In 1994 the Charlottesville Municipal Band launched a capital campaign to raise the funds to build a Municipal Arts Center (MAC) on land already owned by the band. The building is providing a permanent home for the band as well as providing rehearsal and meeting space for numerous other arts and civic organizations throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The official ground-breaking occurred on Saturday October 17, 1998. Construction has been completed and the Band is continuing to raise additional funds for the continued operation and maintenance of the Center. A dedication ceremony was held during September, 2000 to showcase the building to all who have contributed and worked very hard to bring this Arts Center to completion.
